Gaya Vartanyan is captivated by the transformative potential of clay, which allows her to explore the intricate connections between humanity, material, and the spaces we inhabit. Her work delves into the tension between visibility and concealment, harmony and chaos, intimacy and vastness.

In her Canvas collection, Gaya examines the boundaries of the private and public, using translucent glazes and exposed clay textures to reveal a delicate balance between what is hidden and what is seen.
In the Equilibrium collection, she explores the pursuit of simplicity and inner harmony, balancing raw, textured surfaces with minimalist forms.

Her latest collection, Knot, investigates the symbolism of the knot as a foundational element of "home"—a point of connection, stability, and timeless ritual. Inspired by Masonic symbolism and the duality inherent in knots, these pieces reflect on the tactile relationship between the material and the maker, as well as the interplay between space and time. Through each work, Gaya seeks to embody the essential yet often overlooked connections that
bind us to the natural and spiritual worlds.

Born in Tbilisi, Georgia in a half Armenian and half Ukrainian family, Gaya Vartanyan began her creative journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and later earned a Master’s in Architecture from London Metropolitan University (Moscow Architectural school partner).
With a strong background in interdisciplinary design, she has worked in architecture, as well as in the fashion industry. This diverse experience informs her ceramic practice, blending structural precision with artistic expression.
Gaya currently lives and works in London, UK.
